Academy Award winner Sofia Coppola makes a comeback with a new thriller titled ‘The Beguiled’.
Director of ‘Lost in Translation’, Coppola’s new film is a remake of a 1971 movie based on a homonymous novel by Thomas P. Cullinan.
The upcoming 2017 film features a number of stars, including Colin Farrell, Nicole Kidman, Kirsten Dunst, and Elle Fanning.
The film depicts the story of John McBurney, a Union soldier portrayed by Farrell, who was injured and rescued by a young girl at an all-girls boarding school located in rural Virginia.
While his presence was warmly welcomed at the beginning, events take a sinister turn throughout the film.
"The main crux of the story is about the dynamics between a group of women all stuck together, and then also the power shifts between men and women," Coppola said about the movie.
"I haven’t really done a genre film," she also said, adding, "It was fun to figure out how to approach that but still [keep the film] in my style, and to have this kind of beautiful, dreamy world that I like — but with a plot!"
